World Mental Health Day (October 10) is a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health. It’s a chance to reflect on how our daily habits influence our wellbeing, and make small but meaningful changes that support balance and resilience.
For this day, we have gathered some practical tips to help maintain mental wellbeing both inside and outside of the workplace.

  • Take regular breaks
Stepping away from tasks throughout the day helps restore focus and reduce stress. Short pauses for stretching, breathing exercises, or a quick walk can reset energy and prevent fatigue.
  • Eat and drink in a balanced way
What we eat plays a key role in how we feel. Choosing nourishing meals, staying hydrated, and avoiding too much caffeine or sugar can help maintain steady energy levels, improve concentration, and support a positive mood. Practicing mindful eating is also very important. Remember to slow down and be present during meals.
  • Socialize and stay connected
Healthy relationships are an important buffer against stress, both inside and outside of the workplace. Making time for positive social interactions through team lunches, coffee chats or simply checking in with colleagues helps build connections and support networks that enhance resilience.
  • Celebrate small wins
Acknowledging progress, no matter how small, helps maintain motivation and self-worth. Taking time to reflect on achievements fosters gratitude and positivity. Celebrations like this do not always have to be elaborate. Even something as simple as a sincere thank-you note can make a meaningful difference.
  • Protect work–life balance
Setting boundaries between work and personal time is vital for preventing burnout. Make space for hobbies, family, relaxation, and activities that bring joy outside of daily responsibilities.
  • Practice relaxation techniques
Simple activities like deep breathing, journaling, or meditation can reduce anxiety, improve focus, and bring calm to a busy day.
  • Keep gratitude in mind
Writing down a few things you’re thankful for each day can shift perspective and strengthen emotional resilience.
  • Foster a culture of trust and psychological safety
When we feel safe to speak up, ask for help, this strengthens us. Encouraging empathy, collaboration, and supportive responses from leadership creates an environment where people can thrive.
  • Seek support when needed
Remember that mental health is not something to manage alone. Reaching out for support from friends, family, or professionals is a sign of strength.
